There’s a version of a runway show the audience gets.

Then there’s the version that actually happened.

The one backstage was never clean. Never quiet. Never interested in behaving for the camera. It moved too fast, sweated through its own structure, smeared itself at the edges. Hair half-built. Nails catching light before the look was finished. Jewelry on a body that was still becoming itself. Makeup suspended in that perfect violent space between intention and collapse.

That’s where these photos live.

Not in the polished mythology of the final walk, but in the raw machinery underneath it. The tension. The vanity tables. The scattered products. The hands adjusting, pinning, painting, fastening. That’s what I wanted these images to keep.

Not perfection. Evidence.

Evidence that the world of The Disco was built by hand. Evidence that glamour is never as effortless as people want it to look. Evidence that some of the most powerful moments happen before anyone is watching, or after they’ve already looked away.

These photos catch the show in a state of exposure. Not fully dressed. Not fully protected. More dangerous that way. More true.

Because backstage is where the performance is still leaking. Where the facade hasn’t sealed shut yet. Where everyone is lit by the same fluorescent honesty, and somehow still manages to become something excessive, cinematic, unreal. That contradiction has always interested me more than the finished picture. The fact that something can feel both broken and exact at once. Temporary and unforgettable. Messy and completely controlled.
